Rowe Changers and new $5'S

Hello all, I've read all the threads regarding the new $5's and other various bill acceptors. I, however, have 8 Rowe BC-1400's. Is there an eprom upgrade for the computer boards or will the boards need to be replaced. If its the latter, there will be some Mars conversions in my future.

The Rowe $5 upgrade EPROM isn?t out yet, it?ll be a chip change just like the last one. The last I heard they were going to start shipping them out at the end of March. The Rowe BC1400 Mars conversion should be available soon.

You might want to try the new 5 first. I just got 2 new $5 bills. so I tried them in both of my rowes and they accepted them fine.

Bill, do you know what chip you have in your changers? I have 2 BC-200 changers with chips that say v1.1 new bills and neither one them will take the new $5.

I talked to baca's changers on monday , Rowe had just shipped them out I guess, Maybe only a couple of weeks left. I think the smart money is on the Mars conversion. Now that rowe has a mars conversion, I think they are one step closer to a "acceptable" changer.

I checked with Rick at Rick?s Technical and he told me that Rowe has started shipping the $5 upgrade on the 8th of May. But don?t be looking for the upgrade to arrive any time soon, the back order list is huge I guess.
